Whether you own a chihuahua or a Great Dane odds are you’re eventually going to take your dog in the car. Yes some of us just deal with the fact that every part of our life is covered in dog hair so why not get the car covered in the hair too? Trust me if I ever win the lottery I am buying a car specifically for the sole purpose of no dogs allowed in it…..ha who am I kidding, that would last probably a day or two LOL!
But like most people, I don’t have billions of dollars to buy multiple cars for different purposes so I did my research and found these cars to be the most compatible with traveling with your pup. Of course, it depends on the size of the dog so I am basing it off of a medium-sized dog let’s say a 60lb Lab.
At the top of the list but an unfortunate downside is the Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs concept. It is literally a CRV designed to tend to your 4 legged family member. Its equipped with a dog dryer, ramp, built-in water, and food bowl, storage compartment, and a dog gate. Nissan went all out to accommodate our furry family members when making this special addition CRV. It even has cute dog emblems on the back! But the sad part, right now it is only currently sold in the UK. RIGHT I literally cried! But soon I am sure it will be here in the USA or maybe other car manufacturers will catch on and start making dog models too! My second choice would be the 2018 Dodge Durango. Yes, this is a pricey SUV but it is a vehicle that has room for 5-8 passengers comfortably and a few dogs. If you’re just traveling with 4, even better because the back seat has a tuck-away feature that basically makes the backseat disappear so BONUS the dog has more room. The back compartment comes with plastic rivet inserts so that your dog doesn’t slip around, and also the seats in the second row are tall so if you don’t want to buy a dog divider you don’t have to. Also if your dog travels in a crate no matter the size, the crate will fit comfortably with room to spare for other things such as beach towels, cooler, or any other items you may be traveling with. 2018 Durango
My third choice if you don’t need the size of an SUV and are more of a city person I would recommend the 4 doors Fiat. It’s roomy, has good fuel economy, and if you don’t want to put the seats down for your dog you don’t have to. The best part is the seats in the Fiat are set up like stadium seating so the back seat is slightly higher than the front so when your pup is sitting in the back they can easily still see out the window without having to put their paws up on the side. Also, the seats fold down nice and flush so if you want to put a large crate or a nice dog bed there is plenty of room. Another good feature is the trunk is still roomy enough that even when traveling with 4 people there is still enough room for your furry family member to ride in comfort in the back. 2018 Fiat 500X 4 door
No matter what car you get to safely travel with your pup, the main thing is that you and your pup are safe while traveling. So be sure to either have a pet partition gate up if your dog is the type to jump over the back seats to try and get to you. Or possibly invest in a dog seatbelt because nothing screams an accident like having your dog jump into your lap while you’re on the freeway. You should even consider having your dog travel in a crate if the other two options don’t work for you.

No matter how you travel with your pup the bottom line is, there will be dog hair, it is physically impossible to not get dog hair in the car. But luckily being dog moms, pet hair is just part of our wardrobe by now!
Travel safe and I hope you have a wonderful adventure
